Pre Knocked In Bats
Many bats are now sold as pre-knocked in and ready to play. Whilst in theory this should mean that you could go straight from the shop to the crease and knock a quick 100 (we all can dream), we recommend that you have a practice session with old balls before you use the bat in a match. This will help you to assess whether or not the bat has been thoroughly knocked-in or if it needs a little more work with a bat mallet. 20 minutes extra knocking in on the edge of the face with a bat mallet will probably extend the life of your bat. Also remember that most pre-knocked in bats still require oiling.
